Indian subcontinent recently was affected by the worst flood in recent histories. In some of the flood affected areas, it had been raining non stop for more than two weeks.
More than 19 million people have been displaced or marooned in their villages. More than 1100 people have been killed. While the floods have receded and people are still going hungry due to lack of adequate support and snail paced relief measured.
While people suffered, most Indian news channel failed to give it adequate coverage. Most media channels where either busy covering Sanjay Dutt’s sentence or controversy surrounding Laloo Prasad Yadav landing chopper on highway. Non of the media channels reported desperate condition of people dealing with after math of the flood. Today Dawood Ibrahim who injured his legs in hotel brawl, made headlines on 6 clock evening news.
In today’s world were TV news channel play big role in influencing common peoples opinion , it’s a shame they tend to concentrate the page 3 news rather than report real plight of suffering people
